Principle

The Young Entrepreneurs program aims to help young promoters in creating their business by offering them support both technical and financial. It also aims at encouraging business succession inside existing enterprises within the territory under the Développement économique LaSalle’s jurisdiction.

Admissibility criteria

  • To be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant and be a permanent resident of Québec;
  • To be at least 18 years of age and under 35 at the time of registration;
  • To plan on creating a business in LaSalle;
  • To have experience or some formal education related to the project, i.e. possessing at least a SSD or an academic equivalent, and demonstrate a managerial capacity sufficient to bring the project to a successful conclusion;
  • To pledge to work full time, from the beginning, in the business;
  • To accept to conform to the follow up measures set up by  Développement économique LaSalle.

Business creation

In addition, in the case of a request made in this field, the candidate must:

  • Have significant decision making power in the business i.e. a minimum 51% of shares;
  • Invest as capital outlay, in money and transfer of assets, a sum equal or superior to the subsidy. The money outlay must represent at least 30% of the amount of the subsidy.

Business Succession

In the case of a request made in this area, the candidate must also:

  • Demonstrate certain proficiency, abilities and the motivation needed in preparing the entrepreneur to assume an executive position, and pledge to actively contribute to the perpetuation of the business;
  • Acquire at least 25% of the value of the business (25% of voting shares or of the company assets);
  • Put up a personal capital outlay in money equal or superior to the requested subsidy.

Modes of Financial Aid

Financial aid from the Young Entrepreneurs program is in the form of a non refundable contribution (subsidy).

Option A – Setting up your business project: up to $5,000 *
Option B – Business creation: up to $15,000 * per admissible project
Option C – Entrepreneurial training: up to $1,000 * per promoter accepted in Option B

The total amount of the subsidy cannot exceed $15,000 as the sum of all Options.
